Who we are

The Boyd family descendants have been living and vacationing in Bayfield and on the Island for generations. This bed and breakfast gives us an opportunity to house our growing family tree and also share our love of the area with you. We offer three rooms each with a renovated private bath, a shared covered porch overlooking the gardens and apple orchard. A continental breakfast is served in our dining room and can be enjoyed on the porch. Fresh produce from the garden is included when available.

Conveniently located in town, guests of The Boyd’s Nest are a short walk to just to everything Bayfield has to offer: marinas, boating, fishing, museums, walking trails, a pubic beach, Wonderstate Coffee, several fish markets, Hoops open air lake front bar, the upstairs lake view deck at the BINN, all the shopping and dining options in town as well as the majestic Madeline Island Ferry line.

Because the summer tourist season is short we do recommend making some advance reservations. If you are new to Bayfield let us help you plan your trip. Just let us know your interests - Do you want an excursion to the islands, a private boat ride or a fishing tour? How about a day to moped or bike to Madeline Island’s parks? Into racquet and paddle sports? or do you plan to bring your golf clubs ? Ever been to a fiber farm or fed an alpaca? Interested in fine dining and craft cocktails or perhaps a famous fish fry? We can tell you our picks for the best fish sandwiches and beaches. And let’s not forget about kayaking the sea caves and lagoons! Or is wellness your thing? Check out the year round spas, retreats, yoga studios, saunas and cold dips. And of course the live music, art galleries and bookstores showcasing many local and native artists. Then there are the orchards, and the berry farms and bakeries…

And don’t think that summer is the only time to be here. October is glorious and kicked off by the annual apple festival. As winter advances, Mt Ashwabay opens for skiing and snowboarding and the channel becomes an ice road to Madeline. Too scary? Maybe just a hike to the ice caves would be enough? Or perhaps you’d prefer to mush your own team of sled dogs, then jump in the lake and heat up with a sauna.

There’s so much to love here - you should come… coffee is on us.
